The reason - playing someone HU who didn't fold but always managed to end up with the best hand.
Oh yeah and losing something like 100BB every time I sit down over the last week.

hurray another desk breaker! I thought I was the only one. I'm usualy more of a thrower than a smasher although it doesn't happen very often. The wall on the other side of the room has a nice pebbledash effect due to a tin full of change. The other one was a stack of CD spindles - few CDs survived the journey. Thats all the damage I've done so I suppose I'm not doing too bad.
Another session losing around 80BB for me, I'm such a fish. I just hope all this money is going to the bad players on P1 who can't deposit so all you guys can get your hands on it.

I thought about that, but I think a calling station shaped punch bag is what we need. I love calling stations really of course (apart from when they hit hit hit!).

generally- calling stations are easy to play against (6 or 9 player games).. but HU that's really not the case..
I've found that the easiest guys to play aginst are the ones who will fold to your flop continuation unless they flop a pair or a draw... if they call you can play accordingly the rest of the hand
the guys who will call with 10 high on the flop are really tough (and frustrating) to play agisnt HU. at least when you can't hit a pair to save your life..
Kunugaa
01-31-2007, 07:17 PM
It's kind of wierd how it is often easier to play against a maniac HU than someone who is calling all the time, at least the maniac is trying to win a pot and it isn't to hard to figure out what they are doing. It seems to be easier to call with a weak hand than bet with nothing. Playing a passive player is kind of like firing a catapult into a huge cushion.
I wonder sometimes whether these guys know something I don't. I make much more money HU against fairly decent players and enjoy it much more even if I am losing a bit, you get to try and outwit them and play a proper game.

thank god I'm not the only one that goes through these 200bb downswings. I was thinking to myself, is this fkn normal? 200bb in 2-3 days? I guess it is.
Kunugaa
02-10-2007, 12:12 AM
It's normal for me because I put in extra bets when I am behind and fold when I am ahead etc.. Now it's a 600BB downswing in around 2 weeks (10k hands). If anyone sees me playing really badly (like -6BB/100 badly) I'd appreciate if you'd let me know, I'm sure I must have become some giant fish or something.

Ok this is getting stupid, I (again!!!) sit down and 50BB disappears in about 150 hands. Time for the week off remedy I think, although it's tricky because I haven't had a penny to withdraw so far this year even with prop pay.
This isn't a downswing, it's a crash. Something is very wrong.

and a little update in the kunugaa is a crybaby thread.......
I took my week off, read some poker books, watched some videos and now I'm down 800BB and counting.
This is all at P1 by the way, I don't play that much at other sites but it's business as usual everywhere else.
trying to ride it out at 1/2 is boring. Losing at 1/2 is just embarrassing.

Well, there gos a mouse, keyboard and the keyboard tray(smashed off hinges). After a full week of sick brutal beats in both NL cash games and Tournaments I think its time for a lloooonnngggg vacation from poker. Running bad and the whole US legislation bs has really got me to pissed off to even think of continueing this game.
Im not sure about you guys but the more I try and fight to survive both these dumb ass donks and the law its really killed my taste for the game. Not to mention Ive been finding myself getting more angry and worked up to the point where my wife is tellin me cut it out or find another place to be(I can get quite emotional/upset).
I think I will set aside this game I used to so enjoy and really persue the financial services business. Something I know will always be needed and there is a great oppurtunity to make a life long lasting income.
GL to all, Chip
P.S. Im donkin off my last $200 at FT if any of you want some free $$$.

I haven't broken any desks or mice. But I did get so tilted after losing a 400bb pot with one pair mind you that I had to go for a walk at 4:00am. I tried walking it off, after about 1 mile I turned around to start back home and a police officer stopped me and asked me for identification. I guess there had been burglaries lately and me walking one direction and than turning to go back in the opposite direction was suspicious activity.

Ok If this is the bad beat thread, how's this one:
I go to the ATM with my epass debit card and ask it for 600$. I hear it go whirrrr count out my money, the little door opens and immediately slams shut. I manage to grab some corners of the bills and get 220. Next day I go to the bank and say I'm short 380. They agree (the money that gets eaten by the machine goes in a seperate box). Will they give me the money? No! I have to contact epassporte and the biggie..... epassporte then has to contact them.... then they will send my 380 back to epassporte. Anyone who has dealt with epassporte cust service will understand when I say, if I ever get my 380 it will be weeks from now dozens of hours on hold, faxes, reexplaining the story 15 times.

Update. My bank sent them back the 380 on 1/18, so I call epass and say "hi the bank sent the 380 when do I get it in my account". They say March 8th. I say why do I have to wait until march 8 when they already sent it? They say your bank may dispute the charge back, I say they didnt dispute it THEY ALREADY SENT IT. they say ok well then you will fet it sooner than that I say great.
Today I go to the ATM and it tells me insufficent funds so I go to my epassporte account. What did they do you ask? when they received the 380 from my bank rather than credit me 380 they charged me 380 (plus a 2$ fee) so now I'm out 762$ life is good.

This is really spooky.
I started this thread on the 30th of January 2007 when I was running worse in limit then I ever had before.
Now one year later I am going through something similar with NL, I'm down over 15 buyins in about the same number of hands and I don't think I have really had a downswing of more than like 6 buy ins before. One year on and something like this doesn't bother me at all for some reason, thats good I suppose.

turns out it was the bank that made the second fuckup, they charged epass the 2nd 380. Now the bank has sent them the entire 760 but epass says I still have to wait until march 14 in case the bank contests it. Still trying to figure out why the bank may contest it when they already sent it.

Sort of off topic now, but I've also broken a desk, but it was a result of me throwing a chair at the desk, and it hit the spot i normally smash with my hand(the spot had stress fractures from years of hand-smash abuse). Anyone else, ever punch themselves in the head repeatedly after an awful beat?

lol, always thought i was the only one. This is a very disturbing trend, maybe we could get a group rate on some psychological help. I've noticed i only do this when i take a really bad beat, if its set over set or something, and i legitimately lose a hand I'm cool with it, but something about the suckout triggers that response. I've used the punch and the slap, but my real favorite is the base of my palm right into the side of my head. Note: its not so much the initial pain that it causes, but rather the subsequent headache you get about 10 minutes later.
DAYS WITHOUT A HEADPUNCH: 32 and counting

i usually just yell and want to do drugs. i quit smoking about a week ago and had been cutting down gradually for about a month before that.. so it only takes a few back to back coolers/suck outs and i am livid. i used to just go have a smoke and it would be okay now i do explosive pushups and scream. i'd rather have a smoke though

Today i added a computer chair arm to the list of breaks(its kind of an improvement thought, because it was the left chair arm, and i'm a lefty, so the arm kind of gets in the way of my nightly social agenda anyhow)
Here's how the arm broke:
1/2 nl
Jackman raise to $8 with QQ
Sammy raises to $300 with AA
jackman calls, and hits a q high flush. Chair go boom.
I ended up getting it back from him with a $300 pot when i had 4 of a kind, and a $600 pot when i had jj and flopped j55 fh.

Yep, I think it is going to have to come to that, if I did it two weeks ago I would be $5k richer. Luckily (?) I only have enough left in my account for some 100NL now so I'll play that for a bit and see if I can manage to completely busto my account first.
I just did something very strange, I reinstalled the PW software. It must be broken.

It was my first problem ever with them. Just like you said I was ultra careful to do everything exactly correctly thru the sign up process etc, having heard cust service horror stories.
My last call the customer service person was actually bitching at me and yelling in obvious annoyance when I said where the fuck is my money. She says the matter is closed and they will give it to me march 14th.
I am not allowed to talk to the chargeback department who handles my case. I can't have my money because the bank may dispute it (even though the bank already gave it to them). It's a joke and I'm up to about 25 hrs of bullshit and being on hold now.

Just now epass put the whole 762$ back in my account (and 2$ extra for some reason lol). I consider it a miracle it was taken care of this soon, only 3 weeks total and if the bank hadn't screwed up it likely would of only been 10 days or so. I take back all the nasty things I said about them.

I really miss neteller. Out of all the years neteller was in business, i never once heard a horror story or people bitching about their fees. ONly since the friggen usa governement charged the neteller guys and they had to exit from the north american market, have all the horror stories been ongoing. Playing poker for an added income is becoming a pain in the ass with everyone grabbing %5 of your own fucking money. Irritiating me to be honest but, what doesnt irritate me lately lol

Hey, I finally got mad enough a couple nights ago, when one guy kept rivering me over and over and over and took my whole roll at p4e (my 'whole roll' is not a lot there, so don't complain that i'm not playing within my limits.. i'm only depositing the amount i'm willing to lose right now) .. that I chucked my wireless mouse across the room and into a wall. My gf had previously told me that if I ever chucked things, she'd have to break up with me, but she understood after i sent her the hand replay of the last one.
On the bright side, the mouse works much nicer now than it did before.
