View Full Version : How can we be sure these small sites are legit?
I mean is anyone worried about sending thousands of dollars to one of these offbrand sites? I mean yeah they could be part of the Kwanakee (sp?) Gaming Commission, but if they aren't should we just avoid them? Does anyone have any input to this issue?

Life is full of risk. The guy you hire to paint your house might walk with your down payment. Obviously small sites will have greater risk than big sites, but they may or may not have greater rewards too. Everyone should always pay attention and make their own decisions.

when i start on small prop sites i deposit smallish amounts, like 500-1k and work it up to my normal bankroll. It would make me feel better if things ever went bad.

Obviously there is a change for anything. But most likely this is not the case due to a variety of reasons. If a poker site is rigged then it would be shut down. There are people watching these sites 24hours a day to make sure this sort of thing doesnt go on etc. Also they would be in massive risk if they were find out , and would get sued for millions.
Bad beats happan some times, you have to accept them. If you had a massive bad beat in a live game you would say bad cards, bad day, and come back another time. IT HAS TO HAPPEN some time to all of us. YOu can go through days if not months of bad beats until it changes in your favour again. You have to just keep your cool, and try to loose the minimum you can in that time frame. I am sure that if you think back them sort of cards have worked for you against another player, and you think jees they were unlucky. Thats the way it goes sometimes. IF you dont like it i recommend that you dont play poker.

well i say that there is a safe list when coming to online poker. Play one that someone you know has played, or deposit a small amount and see how it is before you deposit a large amount.
my safelist for poker sites is
pokerstars
fulltiltpoker
ladbrokes
poker4ever
poker.co.uk
partypoker
all should add there safe lists, and see what people all seem to agree on.

The size of poker4ever makes me a bit on the nervous side, considering that last night at one point there were a whole 9 people playing cash games ... but Cake was like that 2 years ago when I started out there, too .. and now Cake is close to Absolute in size, from what I've heard.

The operative word there is "night" they are mostly europeans. There are 5X maybe even 10X the players now compared to 6 months ago.
That being said, other than the Stars and Fulltilts and a couple others it's a bad idea to have more than you need at any site. "what you need" would be different for different players of course.

Noon eastern time there are about 20 near full tables. And there will be more in a couple hours. Many of them are Probably props, but there are some customers. Peak times there are around 3-5 PM eastern.

Actually you would be suprised how many of the players that seem to be there all day are customers. I've seen loads the very high volume players on wating lists.
